I made my first run of my new barrel evaporator on Sunday 1/31/2016. Snow on the ground, temp. was above 60 and my honey bees were flying. Crazy weather. I ran 35 gallons, at a rate of 5.4 GPH. Pre-heater was a big plus.127481274912750

Nice rig , you are way ahead of me on sap. I have processed 10 gallons. My flow has slowed way down due to the warm weather. Still tweaking my boiler. Nice job!

Nice evaporator. What did it cost to build?

Well I had the barrel stove kit and pans left over from last year. You can get a barrel stove kit for about $55, and 3 pans would be about $60. The drum was free, and most of the metal was scrap from around the place here, add in about 16 hours of welding and fab and you are ready to go!
