I'm considering an Omega TPD38 http://www.omega.com/pptst/TPD30.html and Thermoworks RT610B-12 http://50.28.9.8/products/low_cost/rt610b_12+24.html as the digital thermometer I'll purchase for my first attempt at making syrup.
Both were suggested by their respective manufacturers as suitable for our hobby, and meeting my qualification as "inexpensive" ( I suggested <$40 when I contacted the manufacturers.)
At least for a little while, both are virtually the same price.
Both seem to have about the same range of accuracy.
Has anyone had good or not-so-good experiences with either thermometer?
I'm leaning toward the 12" unit over the 8" one.
The Omega also can be purchased with a head similar to the Thermoworks unit.
Which one would you choose?
