Looking to upgrade small filter press with a polyethylene air diaphragm pump. They seem to be rated for temperatures of about 180F. Anyone using them for hot syrup? I've been using a poly hand pump with no problems. Stainless prices are out of sight. Thanks for any info.

We got a diaphagm pump a couple years ago. I dont recall the particular materials used in the pump, but it was rated for 230 degrees and for mild abasive liguids. I shopped on ebay until I found the right one at the right price. Was real lucky, brand new pump for $165, want to pick up another at that price.

180 would not be hot enough, you want to filter at or slightly above your bottling temp, if that is near the suggested max of 193, you need a pump that can handle 200 or more.
I bought this pump http://www.zoro.com/warren-rupp-double-diaphragm-pump-air-operated-220f-wr10kp5bkk9/i/G2116721/ On the advice of others on here. Worked well last year on my 7" press. Rated for 220 degrees. I sold the gear pump that came with my 10" and the air pump is going on. Zoro was the best price. Make sure it is rated for 220. Price is a lot lower for a lower temperature rating but I would not chance it. And I just noticed free shipping from Zoro.

I just bought an air pump for my press. It is the Kynar type platic rated for 248 degrees. The limiting factor after that is the temp ratings of the diaphragms
