I received a price from my CDL dealer for 3/4 Mainline,,,,,,, .18 cents a ft for black and .21 cents a ft for blue. Very minor difference. What are the pros and cons of each?
Thanks.
Terry

Blue doesn't heat up as much therefore the sap stays cooler. Black is cheaper and doesn't show up so much.

Blue will keep the sap cooler (not likely to matter much in shorter runs)and it is also transparent so you can see the sap inside. Black will help the sap thaw quicker and save you .03 a foot. Really up to you.

if you have shaded or north woods, use black it will thaw much quicker. blue will keep sap cooler, but thaws slowly in cold. i use black for dry line and shaded woods blue for anything seeing 4+ hours direct sun, although there is not much difference in price for 3/4 or 1''

Hey Terry,
Think of this...in the heat of the end of season I can boil a few more days if may sap was a couple of degrees cooler. That is why I am adding blue lines and a wet line in sections. The sap in the morning and mid day is great but by the late after noon it gets cloudy in the glass releaser. An extra two or three days or as a buddy did 10 days can make a big difference in the end of season production numbers.
I am adding in blue all the time and only a dry line is black any more.
Line across the creek you may need to go black. All my lines over the creek are black but I am adding a blue line that is high enough it does not freeze prior to the bush. The low line over the creek is black as it freezes 30-45 minutes prior to the bush. This is a wet line and I plan to add another wet line in blue next to it to try and cool the sap in end of season.
