so what im understanding as the main concern is the sap after it has come in contact with the drop, not so much the new plastic piece? with that said and if true, then the cv weather spouts or adapters would be good to go for few years before needing replacement. or do they still recommend new valves every year? haven't found anything on this yet

Pretty sure there is a publication on PMRC website about drop replacement and CVs. Basically if you want to use CVs it is as follows. Many people use a polycarb spout or the new white spouts year 1 and 2.

New Drop
Year 1 any new spout
Year 2 same as year one
Year 3-until replacement CV

New spouts every year,.
Unless you are using stainless and have good sanitizing process.

I simply cut off the old (used 1 season, CV2) and install a new one. If you prefer the CV1, just remove it from the stubby and put on a new CV1 adapter. Then every 5-6 years remove the old drop by cutting out the T with the drop and install a new tee and drop. The lateral is generally good for 10-15 yrs. I use CV2 on everything, except 1st year new laterals on 3/16.

Year 1 - new drop & spout
Year 2 onward - new CV spout or adapter each year

The CV spout simply temporarily delays taphole and spout contamination, it cannot prevent it from eventually happening. Therefore you need to replace them each year to ensure that there is new clean plastic in contact with the taphole.
