To all of those in the path of the storm. Hope everyone is taking this seriously. Remember not to leave your pets out! This is the time to make sure you and your families are safe and prepared. The 20 years that we'be lived here on our off grid homestead, we have been warm and with power. Wood stoves solar and wind. We did all this with very little money and a lot of work. While others complain bitterly waiting to be rescued by "someone", we can stick it out. Everyone should start sizing up that things are rapidly falling apart and be ready to take care of yourselves. I think the majority of mapletraders are among this group being more in tune with nature. Good luck to all and be safe.

You made me smile. From the sounds of it unfortunately those getting the brunt of the storm wouldn't know how to be prepared for it. I heard the radio that plow trucks are being sent from Michigan to TN for the weekend. My brother lives down in that area the whole area will be shut down for days for 6" of snow. We are not suppose to get much where I am, but we are always ready.

I know alot of people are getting excited/concerned over this storm, as they are calling for 2-3 feet. To keep it in perspective parts of WNY received 80+ inches in a 48-60 hr window last year. Just saying...

I like the irony, DC is going to get a huge snow job, and they have inflicted the rest of us with a "snow job" for years.
By all means, everyone be safe and careful. Put extra firewood in for emergency heat, extra batteries and food.
