evap insulation

I have been installing insulation in our 3X12 Leader arch.I an using the 1/2 blanket and have done the sides and the front and the insides of the doors.My question is what about the gap between the doors?It is about 1/4 inch wide.Should I cover it or leave it be.Will it let in extra draft?

Is 1/2 inch going to be enough? Are you making a couple of layers?
I used 2 inch.

Are you going to put in fire brick next? 1/2" is not enough all by itself
What are you using to hold the blanket in place? The blanket would be fine to leave exposed if you had oil or gas but with wood you need to protect it.do you have a blower on the arch? If you don't there is not relly a need to worry about insulating the doors, but you can. I would lay in the blanket and then brick the fire box with fire brick

I should have been more clear on my first post.We took the brick out and put the blanket in next to the outer sheet.We did the firebox area back to the end of the taper.
