I am looking for an inexpensive head tank that is food grade. Any suggestions?

When looking on the internet I came across this post.
If this helps anyone, I wrote to Rubbermaid about bpa and plasticizers and this is the response:

There are no phthalates or other plasticizer types used in the stock tanks.

Thank you,

Kimberly

Does this mean that Rubbermaid stock tanks are food grade?

I bought a new RV fresh water tank like the one below. It comes with threaded fittings and is somewhat compact. Cleaning it is not fun but I cut a hole in the top to get a brush in

I use a 100 gal. Black rubbermaid stock tank in my sugar house, when I was looking I couldn't find info on them as to weather they where food grade or not but the way I see it, why wouldn't they be if that is what you are holding drinking g water In for your cattle, horses, pigs ect. Just my two cents on it, I got mine at tractor supply a couple years ago, works just fine.

Check out the Behlen line:

These are food grade and comparable in cost to galvanized.

I use a 35 gallon fresh water tank from an RV too. Works great to feed sap to my evaporator. Had to modify it some for cleaning.

Tractor supply has a nice 35 gallon water tank for $100 with a nice big hole in the top and a NPT port in the bottom of one end.

You can get a new blue 30 gallon food drum cheaper than that. Set it bottom side up on some blocks and cut the bottom off. Thread 3/4 in pipe in the center of the bung and connect to your evap.

55 gallon drum with a bulkhead fitting put on the side near the bottom or wherever you would like seems like an inexpensive way to do this. Craigslist has plenty of 55 gallon food grade drums in your area for under $20. Here is one.

I also inverted a 55 gal. plastic barrel and cut the bottom off. I used a white-ish colored barrel but it's still translucent so I could easily see the sap level in it. Inexpensive and functional.

Using a white food grade drum here too. I cut the top off just below the necked down area, then cut about a foot off the drum. The top can still be placed on top as a cover, but can be easily removed to cleaned. As it sits, I have a 35 gallon capacity and have the gallon markers highlighted with a black sharpie. Sap level can be seen through the plastic also.

Only picture I could find of it.

I have a food grade plastic tank around 125 to 150 gallon. Brand new never used. I would like $125 for it. It is open on the top, about 6" long and around 30" wide and deep. If interested you could call me at 570-439-5453 I live in north central PA.

I had to call a lot of places, but I finally found a 100 gallon Behlan Country tank at Martin's equipment near Penn Yan, NY. This was 15 miles from my brother so he is picking it up. Thanks for all of the help.
