Wondering what's going on in Albany county. The extended forecast calls for a warm up in early February. I was thinking of tapping then. I am just nervous about the missing out or having my season cut short because I tapped to early.

No taps in until Valentine's Day for me. Never do.
I only missed a short run once in January.
Last year I didn't boil until the 2nd week in March.

This weeks weather doesn't look bad. I'm so tempted.

If I wasn't into skiing, and just not ready to put my taps in, I would consider putting them in today.
The 7 day looks awfully appealing. Of course it'll probably drop back down below freezing after this week.

I started tapping yesterday and trees were running a bit. I cant see why not. The next few days looks great and even if it freezes up again. It should stay to cold for too long.

I have about 280 taps in and the sap is flowing. The pans are sweet and will be boiling down tonight. Did anyone else jump the gun like I did?
