New mainline and 1 of three 3/16" laterals ran. It felt good to get started. It was a good day. Can't wait to tap in and see if the 3/16 makes a difference. Should be able to wrap up running my other 2 laterals this week after work. The 3/16 tubing was nice to work with .

yes, finishing up about 1000 new taps, swapping 600 more, and always making things better. been a very nice fall and winter to work in bush. today was a little wet to start but afternoon was nice. im thinking about replacing some 5/16 with 3/16 even though I will be adding a small vac to the bush, I hear the two work in conjunction with eachother with no losses. I know one thing first sign of consecutive mid 30's after feb 1st im going for it!! no frost in ground here so sap is available! did you buy a 3/16 tool or figure a way with the 5/16 tool?

For those who use a tool to assemble the 3/16, just put several layers of duct tape in the jaws of a 5/16 tool, that is what Tim Wilmott (he pioneered 3/16) did. I use a Flushtec Hot End system, but that would not be practical for a real small operation. It works easily with both 5/16 and 3/16.

I bought a tool, man there salty but in worked great. I'm still trying to figure things out , I'm always trying to get better at this. Just a Hobby for me and my wife. Made 15 gallon last year , just able to boil on the weekends. Started in 2012 with a handful of buckets. Still boiling on propane with a three burner and 3 pans, we figured our rate was around 8 gal/hr . Planning on a 12×16 shack and buying a Mason evaporator this year. I will have 38 on 3/16 and 20 buckets this year. 3/16 is all gravity. Hope you all have a great season.

Good advice, but way to late.
