Was wondering if 2 x 2 x 1/4 angle iron would be better than 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 1/8 for a 2 x 3 arch i am planning to build ? I can get the thicker 2 x 2 for the same price as the 1 /8 inch stuff around $24.00 a 20 ft stick any suggestions would help
thanks
Much less chance of warping from heat with thicker. If same price go for it. I paid close to twice that for 2x2x1/4 locally.

I'm building a 2 by 3 arch right now and I used 1 3/4 at 3/16 inch thick seems almost too heavy and can't imagine it warping would think 1/4 would be more than enough. Search 2 by 3 hobby arch build. Jay

Years ago I built a 2x6, I used 2x2x1/8. I had absolutely no issue with warping. It was fully bricked and arch board with galvanized sides. When it was bricked and had both pans on it I couldn't move it! When I sold it we had to take everything out of it so we could move it outside. The only mistake I made building it was I made the stack to small. I only used 6" and it had a hard time pulling a good draft, I ended up putting a upducer on it and went to 8" and it did alot better. Best of luck with your build.
