I got a Ray Gingrich RO its a 250 gas powered unit. I read his directions and it doesnt say anything about engine speed. Do I run it half throtle or wide open or do ya wing it? Anyone that has used one like mine I would love to know.

PACMAN, you will want to run it wide open. We start ours with the throttle down to a fast idle and then crank it up as soon as we see the feed pump starting to pressure up. Make sure to bleed as much air out of your feed line as possible by loosening the bleeder plug on the top of the feed pump until only sap is coming out. That way you feed pump will start pressuring up right away. This will be our third season with ours and we really like it. We always start ours with the belt tightener loose, and then tighten it as soon as it has run a couple of seconds.

That's right, full speed as soon as you have 20#+ psi on the feed pump gauge, near the prefilter.
I used mine on gas just 1 season, then I got grid power at the sugarhouse. I converted it to electric then, now I run it inside the sugarhouse rather than out in the rain-snow etc. Much better. If I didn't send you a copy of the instruction manual, send me your email in a PM. I did up a translation of his hand written manual which I send a copy of to all who ask.
