Do any of you guys use some sort of inline filters just prior to your diaphragm pumps to protect your diaphragms from ice and other misc. materials? When I tried a shurflow last year I purchased a small screen filter that attached to the inlet side of the filter. It was cheap and the first time it was bumped during uninstalling the pump one cold night it sheered off.

I'm thinking of more like a house canister style filter. Like this one

any opinions?

I use filters on all my diaphragm pumps also filter slightly upstream of sap ladders to prevent ice or chips from plugging ladder and or pumps.

A stainless screen is between the two PVC halves. Has worked great for 2 seasons

I havent used anyting in line with my sap puller, besides a check valve but I also do not let mine run all night and remove it entirely when the temperatures warrant
