Here are pictures of tap closure in 10 months of a .225 thin wall and 5/16th tree saver. Been using the .225's on 3/16th tubing with excellent results.

Amazing isn't it. We went from 5/16 to all 1/4 inch on our tubing. Almost painful to punch 7/16 holes for buckets. One thing about those little holes healing up so fast, makes em hard to spot the following spring. :)

I went to 5/16" on my "fun" buckets. Couldn't stand to see the gaping hold through 7/16" bit makes

I just replaced all my 7/16" buckets taps with 5/16". They seemed to produce about the same last year

Last year we used 100 5/16 plastic bucket spouts, they seemed to run good when they stayed in the tree. This year will try tapping in level and use a slightly smaller bit. Some had good luck with them and others reported a lot of drop outs. As we have mostly old, huge trees that have been tapped for over a hundred years. Taps on these trees dont heal very fast, smaller holes will make a world of difference in the heal time.

that healing looks nice, I am using a lot of 1/4's this year for first time, hoping output is good, ive heard it is. I tap lot of 8-12'' trees so will help out there. also trying these 5/32 by waterloo, I have hundreds of 3-6'' and cant see them not get tapped. I figured go 1/2'' maybe 3/4'' deep, vac will draw sap to hole
