A lot of my maples are I guess what is called married or adjoined, they have two or three main trunks going up from one main trunk. Most split at about the two or three foot height. Any suggestion on where to tap these. Some of them are 17-20 inch diameter each trunk.

I would consider each one as a separate tree so long as the tapable area of each one is as if it were by itself. If the main trunk comes up 3 or 4 ' then I might tone it back a bit. That's just me.

Typically in cases like this each stem is treated as a separate tree and tapped according to the appropriate guidelines in your region. As with tapping any tree, try to utilize the full tapping band available (all around the stem and up and down on the stem).
