View Full Version : vacuum gauges on 3/16
maple flats

I use vacuum gauges on my mains, both the start and end of each main, but I don't have them at the end tree on laterals. How do you who put a permanent gauge at the end tree plumb it? What fittings do you use? I'm thinking a tee at the end tree, then find some 3/16 barb x 1/4 femail thread if they are available. I want to have a gauge there at the far end and maybe on one lateral another gauge at the lowest tree on the 3/16, just before the long drop to the main which has vacuum too (but only 19" because it's on a Surge vac. tank).

Dave,D&G sells a 3/16 barbed to a 1/4 female that will go right on your vac gauge. Tee into your lat at end tree just like you would be adding a drop line. Fasten to tree couple feet up with twine wire or large zip tie. I just ordered a bunch of these fittings from Fillmore Maple Supply.
Dave,
D&G (Fillmore Maple Supply ) has the 3/16 barbed/1/4 female fitting. Works great. Also, the $4 vac gauges from Direct in Texas are a good buy.

Some thread tape in the 1/4 threaded part helped me out last year with this set up. I have a gauge at the end of most laterals. Its the worst place for a leak so the tape is cheap insurance in my mind.12256
