so I am a little confused on bricking. I have all the brick to reinstall and 1'' board in place.i understand the fire box part. but question is should I have board under flue pan on bottom and sides? plus maybe brick or fill it with sand and put blanket or board maybe brick ?how much clearance from rear pan to brick board or etc.? just want to do it right. any help would be appreciated ..

Firebrick is only needed in the firebox. You should insulate under your flue pan and the sides also. How close to pans depends on type of pans, for a drop or raised flue a half inch or less but on a flat pan you will need to equal the area of your stack. A 10 inch stack would be (5X5X3.14) or 78.5 inches square. On a 3 X 8 you would need about 2.3 inches (78.5 divided by 34 (36 - insulation)).

ok. it is raised flue . so no brick needed in rear.. so when I fill rear and install blanket I must have to leave some sort of opening when I get near stack for draft?

Use Vermiculite not sand in rear and cover with layer of ceramic blanket. Sand is heavy and can draw moisture.

Yes, drop down about 6 inches before the end of the flue pan to let the gases out.
