I am looking for a 32-40qt stainless brew kettle to finish off my syrup. Has anyone had a good or bad experience they'd like to share to help guide my decision before I purchase? I'm guessing that the ones with the ball valve and thermometer are helpful. I'd obviously like to keep in "on the cheap" but not so cheap I need another one soon.

I spent over 200 for one with s valve. Hole is about two inches from the bottom. Wasted my money. I have several Forty quart stainless pots. Picked them up at restaurant supply house. Avoid aluminum.

I bought one from More Beer .com . It is their standard 8 gallon brew kettle with thermometer and valve. They have a deal of the day every day and these are sometimes on it. They have a try clad bottom. Thats aluminum sandwiched between stainless. That makes it much harder to scorch and even when using a smaller flame the bottom heats evenly.

I purchased a decent 20 qt stainless stock pot on CL, bought the thermometer, stainless valve/spout, and bulkhead fittings on amazon. Drilled two holes and its worked nicely so far. Saved a few bucks compared to buying a Pre fabricated one, though its not the prettiest, doesn't bother me and it gets the job done.
