I am looking to purchase 15 vacuum gauges for our 3/16" line. I have tried FW Webb and McMaster- Carr. The gauges were $13.62 at FW Webb and $ 11.87 at McMaster- Carr. Is there a better place to purchase reasonably priced gauges?

I bought 5 from ebay at $5 a piece. There china brands and one was broken when I received them. There not bad for the price if you need to buy a lot of them.

We just ordered 40 of these and 40 5/16" barbed to 1/4" female npt adapters for $208 total. Had been looking at the same thing on Grainger for over $800 -- you just saved us $600 THANKS!!!!!!!

Did the 1/4" FPT x 5/16" barb connectors come from the same source? Did they have a 3/16" barb fitting?

Does the end of the line above the vacuum gauge tie-in need to be sealed or open to the air? Right now I just have a knot around my anchor tree above the gauge drop.

Maybe someone will revive this thread after season and give feedback on how they worked.

Well season is now over and I can report on the Vacuum Guages. I had 10 guages on my 10 lines. 9 of the 10 worked perfectly and still do. The one that failed got sap in the dial and froze. Next year I will mount them even higher above taps. I'm very satisfied with them. Anyone else ?

We installed the forty and all are working fine. This was a huge reduction in the time it takes to isolate and find leaks, my only wish would be that we had done it four years ago when we put the tubing in. Many, many thanks to the folks who suggested this idea and for the Direct Material referal that saved us $600.

Another labor-saving step we took this year was to cut off our stubbies (we had been using the CV1 with them) and switch to a clear disposable spout. Dr Tim had presented on this at Leader last spring and said that it cut their labor in half due to the black nylon expanding and contracting with the thermal cycles that would lead to a leak after a big freeze. We found this to be true here as well. One difference was that they used the CV2 and we went with a straight clear due to the price difference and the issue with pin holes last season on the CV2 and I wasn't able to discern that there was any lot code control to ensure the bad ones wouldn't end up in our bush -- perhaps we will go with the CV2 next year.

In summary, this is a great site that spreads very valuable info much faster than it would go by other means.

Awesome! Dumb question alert:
All the vac. gauges go to -30 Hg and various PSI ranges. PSI is for the pressure side and the mercury is for the vacuum, right?

Yes, vacuum on these gauges are that way I believe

This one would for sure. The descriptions of the other ones seems like they might. But reading the others I'm not sure.

I bought the vacuum only gauge. I'm not really concerned with positive pressures, just vacuum at the top of my runs.
