I have been looking at all the manufactures and talking to all the maple producers in my area getting insight on how each manufactures have there perks. But not having heard of anyone in my neck of the wood owning a sunrise evaporator. just would like a little about them and the quality of there evaporators?

thanks, mike

I would look at Thor Evaporator also. I just ordered pans from them for about half of Leader's price.

You can check out AA as well. Also amish (sunrise is amish, right?). Would be a short trip due south just across the pa line. Have read good reviews, and extremely reasonable prices.

Also, it will be a short drive for me down 98 to see a set of AA pans in action as I'm looking in at them when for when I get a real evap. :)

AA metal shop. There was a price list on a post a few weeks back. They are amish, so you are not going to find a website.

Elba. Onion capital of the world.

I installed a 2x6 JDL Extreme from Sunrise Metal Shop in my sugarhouse this summer and I am pleased with both the product and the service from the company. I have yet to boil any sap in it but I did do a boil with water and it cranked! Set up was easy, everything fit where it was suppose to and the craftsmanship is top notch.

A&A is roughly 1.5-2 hours from Warsaw. Its a really cool shop they make everything maple evaporators, hoods, pre-heaters, roof jacks, hydrometer cups, tanks

I'm not sure if it matters to you but I believe that AA only solders their evaporators. Sunrise have tig welded pans.

The sunrise evaporator looks nice I hope the boiling rates are what they say. Looking at a 4x10 or 4x12. My goal is 5000 taps.

I'm with nymapleguy607, go welded not soldered. Sunrise does make a fine looking product that is tig welded. I'm not putting down Amish or A&A but welded is the way to go. Ben Hershburger is sunrise dealer in Pike NY. Can't get much closer. I'm not sure if he has a demo model set up or not. Smokey lake also makes a fine product. May want to just buy pans and build your own arch.

We ran the 2x6 JDL Extreme last year and loved it. Very well built.

Does the JDL extreme come with a preheater?
