Is there a reason the majority of the doors drop down as opposed to being hinged on the top? Going to frame mine up soon. My 12x24 will be delivered Thursday.

The weight of the door works with you when opening.

Mine hinge from the top. I wanted the closed position to be the "default" position. I made notched prop rods to hold them open. Gravity closes them. Gravity works all the time.

With that said, I have an attic that allows me to go up there and do it manually. Although my first idea was to fabricate an arm on each door so a rope could be pulled from the ground floor.

Comes down to personal preference and shack design. Theres no right or wrong way.

Well I got it built today. Eighteen inches tall, door are fourteen inches tall forty eight inches long. I went ahead and hinged the top. I wrapped the outside with clay colored coil stock. The Amish are bringing the green steel roofing and ridge cap tomorrow when they deliver the building. I will just need to hop on the roof and hack out a hole then secure the cupola and flash it down.

I hinged mine in the middle so the whole window pivots on a rod. Rod is fixed in place on the window sill and attached to the window sitting inside 2 eye bolts screwed into the window...works pretty slick
