Not to steal Blueberry Hill's title. But next door in Deerfield we got a late start as well. Finally got hay done and fired up the excavator Nov 2. Turns out building on a log landing isn't the best plan. Had to move and dig, move and dig til I had a hole with ledge humps. Spent plenty of money on stone but its leveled, footings poured, and on friday 12-5 who would have guessed the weather was going to be 50degs? Finally got the slab poured. Its 30x36 plus a woodshed of 30x20. Trusses should be coming later in the month. Going with a cabin by creek evaporator as well.
Pretty darn excited. We did a big logging job 2 Novs ago, leaving all the maples I also found one of the old sugarhouse foundations probably dating from the late 1800s.

Sounds like you have quite the building going up. I hate to say it but I have really enjoyed this warm Fall. Don't know whats coming , but who does

Really nice Alden! 1,680 sf, that's a pretty serious statement. Let me know when it's framed. Bruce

Someone else posted down to the wire? Well it feels like sugaring weather, there was mud on the ground and 40 degs. And the crew showed up to get the walls up. Hoping to set trusses tomorrow afternoon. Roofing should be here thursday. 1262212623

We now have trusses. I don't build much so I've never seen how fast you put a building with trusses. They were all set in less than hour and half.

Well its going to be interesting to see if I pull this off. Cold weather this week helped. Electric is dragging. I can boil on the genset but not run the vac pump. Wish I had set a temp service. The other hold up is a distinct lack of evaporator. It just got pushed back another week. Now I know why I don't build new its a bit stressful.

It's looking good Alden. The cupola looks a little small but I like the color of the roofing.

Ha didn't even think of that Russ. Red is a great sugar house roof color. It was the wife's pick. I'm hoping the copula is big enough. The guy building the shack is a horse barn builder. I think its too high and not long enough. We shall see.
