I have millions of winter moths around my windows and doors - attracted to the light. It kills me to know every one of these ba$tids is working on laying the eggs that will hatch to caterpillars that will eat through my trees again.
Is there anything I can put near my lights that can trap and kill them? The Japanese beetle traps work wonders. Is there something like that for winter moths?

Hey Sean:
Check out the electronic bug zappers. I have an old Webber that kills using a ultraviolet light and a high voltage transformer. If they are coming to light this will get them. Jay

Sean,
the flying moths are the males. The females cannot fly and climb up the tree when they come out. That's where you get them. Good luck. I've been infested for about five years and last year I finaly had some leaves left on my fruit trees - along with three apples. The infestation doesn't seem to be as bad so far this year.

Last summer I noticed quite a bit of die back in the crowns of some of my Red Maples. I assumed that it was winter kill from the harsh conditions last year, but after seeing the moths flying around here recently, I suspect that it is Winter Moth damage. I hope that my trees can get through a few years of this until the moths peak and die off.
