I will be pumping from a 2x6 pan into a new 2x6 hybrid pan. I plan on using a wort pump, that will handle up to 255°. But there is no pressure switch. So no way to shut the pump off, I had an idea to use a pressure switch plumbed into a tee. But my son trumped my idea by using a sump pump float switch on the box. So now all I need to to is pick up a 1/3 size steam pan, a stainless flask and some sort of plastic box to encase the float switch in, yet still be able to attach it to the pan. Should have less than 50 bucks in it. Pics will follow.

Ok I went ahead and bought an empty float box from Jim. So the investment went a little over budget. But I do no have to piddle with steamer pans and trying to get height right.

Well found out I need a thicker flask. Tends to get fluid on top and that is enough to hold the 10 ounce float down.

What dimensions are the float you are using?

About 3 3/8 x 6 but only about 3/4" thick

I use a 5oz. flask and it works well

looking at your pictures, if its works just refine it..... maybe use a thinner/ smaller threaded rod ( less weight for the float to overcome ) or something like that

I was thinking the same thing. That seems like a good amount of weight in that rod. Nice design though.

Would filling the flask with spray foam help. Or would it hold up to heat

Could you give the float rod a little help with a long, weak spring (rubber band?) pulling up on it a little?
