Just a heads up. Check out the Sportsman's guide. I got yet another catalog from them today and one item jumped out at me. For anyone who is looking for a great pair of rugged snowshoes at a super price, look at their Magnesium Surplus snowshoes. I have a set already, and in the past, I've ordered a set as a gift to someone who helped me all one season and wouldn't take any money. Right now they are about $30/pr. (and I'm a "member" so mine were $26.99 (with $8.99 shipping, still a bargain), brand new, never issued. They are an Alaskan style, which means you need more room to turn around, but they are easy to walk in. I just ordered another set. While the snowshoes are great, I don't like the bindings. For this set, I'm going to try one I've never used before. I ordered a set of Marc's snowshoe bindings. I thought they looked like they will hold the shoe to the boot well, while being quick to attach. Time will tell on that. If I really like them, I may order 2 more set of the Marc's bindings, one for my Alaskan style traditional snowshoes, and one set for the other set I have like the ones I just ordered. My other set has a Bob Maki binding, easy on/off but they seem to allow the shoe to drift one side or the other too easily.
