University of Vermont Extension seeks a Maple Production Educator to interpret research findings and produce educational materials that will provide research-based solutions to maple production-based problems confronting Vermont maple sugarmakers. The Maple Production Educator will teach maple subject matter based on research findings to diverse audiences in non-credit, informal, and off-campus settings through a variety of approaches and media. Other responsibilities include conducting applied research focusing on efficient production of maple sap/syrup in Vermont sugarbushes and interacting with other agencies and organizations with allied interests.

The successful candidate will have a Master’s Degree in forestry, plant physiology, natural resources, or related field, three years’ experience in an education or research setting, preferably working with maple sap and syrup production, demonstrated proficiency in writing for non-technical and technical audiences and demonstrated success in grantsmanship. This position is based at University of Vermont Proctor Maple Research Center in Underhill Center, VT and will require working occasional nights and weekends, travel both in-state and out-of-state, and work in outdoor settings during inclement weather. Must be able to travel internationally (Canada).
