Norway with those tips. Did it leak milky sap when you pulled the leaf? If so, definitely norway

Here's a sugar

Also, I think the leaves on a Norway go from green to brown in the fall, not yellow or orange

Looks like a Norway. The bark on a Norway is similar to an ash and is a good way of determining what it is. Either way it will make great syrup.

You can definitely tell by the bark. The broad lobes of Norway maple leaves and its bark are, to me, the easiest way to distinguish them. There's an abundance of Norways near my house so I'm used to seeing the exact leaf that you have shown here. You may also see a black tar spot on Norway maple leaves. It's a blight that affects them that doesn't seem to affect sugar maple.

Thanks for the help everyone! From what I have read the white color filters out. I have the regular hobbiest basket syrup filter is that good enough for Norways?

I think the milky sap is just a summer thing and the spring sap should be clear like the rest of the maples.

last year was my first year syruping (on my own). My best producing tree was in my yard in front of my house, and it was a Norway. Sap ran perfectly clear. What I was referencing was the milky milk that comes out of the twig and leaf stalk when you snap off a leaf in the summer. Not sap out of a tap in spring.
