Hey all! We are ready to test some waters at a few farmers markets, and festivals in New York State. Not sure if a "Food Service Permit" or the like is required for selling syrup, maple candy, maple nuts, or maple popcorn at the events. Nothing will be prepared at the event site, as it would all be done ahead of time at our home. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

You won't need a permit for the event as long as you are not preparing any items at the event. You will not need anything for selling pure maple products (syrup, sugar, cream). Maple nuts and maple popcorn may require an approved home kitchen.

I would like to add to Thompson's here, that if you prepare your nuts in the same location as you make your candy and cream you should really have a label on your stuff that they are prepared in a "nut packing facility", or some sort of allergen warning...same goes for your syrup if you bottle there.

And you should have liability insurance. Most likely the sponsor of each event will require a "certificate of Insurance" naming them as "also Insured".
