What kind of maple is that? I doubt is is a sugar, red or silver maple. Maybe a Norway or what?

I didn't go in the yard to verify, but it's relatively close to the road. Sure looks like a sugar too me.

Hey flats. I did eventually stop, and it is a sugar. Tried to talk sugaring with the homeowner, didn't seem very interested. I told him that's because he didn't tap it yet!

In eastern MA I've had an interesting observation about homeowners. I try to get permission to hunt in their woods, and have near-zero success. But people find out we make syrup--and they offer to let me tap their trees without my even asking. So I bet the homeowner would let you tap that tree. And I bet the sap would squirt out--not drip.

I won't guess about the flow, but I'll guess it is 5% sugar or likely higher.

Too bad you couldn't cut some of the brush back to get in there
