Can I use my 5/16 two handed tubing tool for 3/16? Would it hold the 3/16 tubing tight enough.

take 2 pieces of 5/16 tubing and cut it in half. hot glue them top and bottom of your 2 hand tool, and should be good to go. you maybe have to reglue as the piece may loosen. silicone to glue them in doesn't work so well...at least that was in my experience. I don't know what numbers on 3/16 you are talking about, but this technique worked for me on about 100 taps just to play around with it.

Im going to try 250 to 300 on 3/16 with a 1 inch main line.

I used an angle grinder and ground the jaws down. Only took a couple minutes. Now it will work for both 3/16 and 5/16.

Or you can put some masking tape on the jaws and with adjusting, it will grip. Can then return to 5/16ths if you want to.
