I was looking for a easy way to clean the black soot off my pans. Wood easy off work?

Hey Swlyamaha:
From our Boy Scout days way back when, we used oven cleaner to remove the campfire soot from our stainless steel pots and pans and that worked great. Jay

Scrub off the top, loose layer of soot with a brush before spraying with Easy Off. Otherwise, the top layer just absorbs all the liquid and it doesn't get down to the surface of the pan. Pick your spot to clean your pan carefully. The area is going to be black for the rest of the summer. Longer, if it's the side of your sugar house.

We spread dish detergent on the bottom of the pan at the beginning of the season.

Best thing now is to use some stainless steel wool.
We put a soft pad into the chuck of a cordless drill and press down against the stainless steel wool, works like a dream.
