I'm going to build an RO this summer/fall for next season. I'm planning 100-120 taps max. Initially I was going to go with a single 4X40 membrane but after talking with someone about that I got concerned that 100-120 taps would not be adequate to have enough permeate to rinse and wash the machine. Should I do a 2.5X40? The problem with the 2.5X40 is a dramatically lower output (I think less than a third of a 4X40). Thoughts?

I'm still leaning toward the 4X40 just for future plans.

I'm using a single 4x40 and worked great. I did about 130 taps last year and had no issues with lack of permeate for rinsing. Always good to go slighty larger then too small.

I tend to agree with you. I had seen another thread where you mentioned this. I think I will just go bigger and plan to hit 120 taps. There's no shame in having extra syrup anyway.
