Too early, trees need to thaw some more.

I tapped saturday 100 and here and there another 100 by today, today was really the first running, each bucket has about and 1" of sap in it. probably collect friday or tomorrow if it picks up. Its taken a couple days to thaw the trees out though.

I tapped Wed. Feb. 21, The trees were running even on the coldest side of the hill in the early morning (8 am). It stopped Wed. night and hasn't started again. Looks cold until sometime next week. I don't think we'll see anything until then.
Good Luck,
Jason

I've already put in a request with the big guy. You'll have to wait till I get my new woods set up. Then sap's gonna flow. Until then just drillin practice for you guys. I got another week, so you'll have about 5-7 days until she opens up.

Hurry and get that new woods set up Matt. It's taking to long to read all these posts every night! These guys need sap to boil to keep them off their computers!!!!!!!

Jim-
Ok, I'll give it heck tomorrow and this weekend. Maybe I can go a little faster and then you guys will get some sap late in the week?
I just don't want you guys to get too much of a jump start on me.

Had enough of a run to prime the stove earlier in the week. Just enough to tease me. Well plenty of wood and no sap is better than sap and no wood!

Caseman,
I think it is the other way around. I would rather have sap and have to scrounge up some wood then be looking at a full woodshed with nothing to boil. If I have sap and no wood it means I had a good season!

I agree russ, I can get all the wood I want in a second. one call to my brother and his dump truck and 15T trailer will be loaded with pallets from a recycling facility and poof instant dry wood. On the other hand I don't know who I can call to have 1000 gallons of sap show up at my door. I'll take a look in the phone book later but I never saw anyone listed in there.
Must be in the wrong section of the white pages.
Tapped last Sunday and Monday here in Guilford. Got about 65 gallons and boiled it down last night. Trees ran okay early last week, but then this weekend lines were frozen and though temps were mid 30s, the sun helped to get things going a little anyway. Looks like I had a bit of a run today but have not collected yet. This week is shaping up to be perfect here, 20s at night and 40s during the day.
