Reading the article in the latest issue of Farming Magazine has me wondering if us maple producers who burn wood in our evaporators need to be wary of possible regulations on emissions down the road.

I know my local DEC officer very well. He had told me last year about a couple of outside wood furnaces that smoked like crazy. This past deer season ours was working hard at low outside temps and he could see the heat coming out of the well casing on our outside wood shed and furnace house. "Whats in there?" Furnace that heats the two houses. Really...how long you had that...about30 years now. Really. He had to go see it. How did you stop the smoking? Just plenty of air to burn the fuel.

Our evap is the same way...plenty of air and no smoke.

Neighbors are a ways away but no need to make an issue that don't need to be made.

Yes...those that make a lot of smoke will have issues those that don't will be fine.

Go reason to put in AUF/AOF systems.
