i think they are same vintage as my original memtek. is the piston pump a red magikist? might be m-38? very reliable pump, but loud. you say 2 membranes, but are they 4" or 8" membranes?
If their 8" the Magikist would be an M 39. That is what is on my seprotech. I sold my Memtek with two 4" membranes to a neighbor and it is still working fine with the M-38. As Eric said the piston pumps are loud. Mine is in an unattached building. I would not want it in my sugarhouse. Sounds like a good sized air compressor. They seem to be bullet proof though. I have come back to see mine running when I forgot to switch to auto-off and know it has been out of sap for an hour with no ill effects. :emb:

We have a coster B300 with one 8" Mark E8 membrane. It will take 2 percent Sap to 8 percent at a best rate of 390 gallons per hour or 250 when it needs cleaning. This was the first year we haven't used it as we replaced it with a Leader HC2, due to the amount of taps we have.

ended up buying it. Got a good deal. How in the world do you take the membranes out of those fiberglass vessels. It goes that the 38 E pump, 2 8 inch membranes. Going to try and run it the rest of the season as long as it doesn't pass any sugar on its test run. Little weary of the soldered fittings. Seems to me that they are not rated for 500 psi
Soldered fittings are rated way more than 600 psi. I have seen no problems with them. I have found on the 8" fiberglass housings you only need to pull the end cap that has the permeate port. Take out 2 - 1/4"bolts then pushed cap in. Then the three piece retainer will come out and you can pull the cap out. I have had to use quite a bit of force to move the cap. Plenty of the food grade grease available at maple suppliers is helpful. E When putting together make sure to push from other end of membrane to seat the end cap. This is to make sure you don't pull the adapter out of cap or membrane. I use a dowel to push through the feed port.
