So I picked up a few bar top corks to make some gift bottles and I noticed when I hot packed them the corks would not stay down in the bottle. they didn't really pop out they just came up about 1/2 way. As the bottle cooled the cork would go down when I pushed it.

my question is to the members who use corks....is this normal?

Clarification - I could push the corks all the way in when the bottle was at 185F it would just raise up to about 1/2 way out of the bottle when I took pressure off - this makes me think it has a good seal but the air pressure on the inside wouldn't let the cork seat itself in. as the air space cooled and the syrup contracted the cork would draw in and seat when I touched it.
