Has anyone installed a pump Shurflo without electricity?

I would like to set up a pump Shurflo 4008 but I do not have electricity. What installation, solar panel or ?? I must have

Yup, used a Shurflo 4008 connected to a Subaru car battery and a 40 watt solar panel with charge controller. Worked well during a sunny day, but the battery would not sustain it overnight when sap is running. The charge controller would trip off after a few hrs due to low voltage and need to be manually reset. I need to do more testing on how long it will last on battery-only, and re-size the battery/solar charger for next year.

I ran some 12 volt models and could get at least 3 days on a marine deep cycle battery. The 12 volt have a longer life than the 110 volt models from what I hear. I just switched out batteries when I collected, I had one spare for 2 pumps.

I ran a Shurflo 4008 with a group 31 Marine deep cycle battery from Napa this year. I ran it a couple of times for 18+ hours straight without it showing any signs of slowing down. I would bring the battery back to the house to put it on the charger.

Thank's you!

I also used the 4008 model on deep cycle marine battery. It would run for 48 hours before it needed charging. Worked really good.

Sorry for hijacking your thread Jdp1, but I am wondering if the 4008 would have enough power to provide suction on a small run of 60ish taps and then push the sap 500 feet on a small incline, ~2%, to a collection site?

I don't think there would be enough power. There was a thread on this somewhere. I think they ended up using two pumps. One for suction and the other to pump it.

Thanks, I was wondering if it would. The air operated lunchbox releaser Acer advertises will likely be my pump of choice then as he explained that it would have the power to pull and push.
I'll look a little harder for that thread.
