Yesterday I received an email requesting 50 gallons of syrup to be shipped to Singapore . After research the buyer recommended a shipping company ( MOBO SHIPPING COMPANY ) . Be advised this is a SCAM as they want your money up front to ship your product. The person that ordered the product was darrenluke90@gmail.com but has used many alias names so be warned . THEY ARE TAKING YOU FOR A RIDE . THEY ARE A BOGUS COMPANY TRYING TO RIP YOU OFF !!! Don't fall for it !!!! :o:o:o Mike

I had a guy a few weeks ago call saying he got some bad syrup and wanted a replacement sent out. I asked for the batch number and he said he would have to call his wife since he was at work. He then called one of my stores and convinced the lady to tell him what batch numbers were on the shelf. He then called me back but the store called me also once they realized they were had.

I don't know if it was the same guy, but I've had a few calls for syrup to be sent to Singapore but I never checked it out, I just hung up each time.

I received an e-mail the other day that sounds a lot like what's been described here. The author's signature was just "D". Maybe our friend darren??

I'll ship anyone's syrup for them if they want me to. Just send it to me and I'll bill you at a later date...

2or3 days ago I got an email as it sounds, from this guy. Said his name was Darren Luke, said he was interested in buying some syrup and wanted to know container sizes and prices. Also asked if he could pay with a credit card. I replied that I would except payment thru paypal only. Probably shouldn't have even replied, but I'm sure glad this was posted here. Kind of wondering where he got my email though.

I was wondering if anyone on Trader knows of an inexpensive shipping company. I am looking to ship 500 gallons of syrup to Alaska. Every carrier I have called is way to expensive. I have driven from Vermont to Alaska 8 times in the last 20 years. I am wondering if just driving the syrup there myself would be the way to go. Am I allowed to bring Vermont syrup through Canada as I drive to Alaska? Thanks

Steve, when I send you the syrup to ship out do you need to know who and where to ship it?

I had a potential customer in Washington that wanted 40 for his ice cream shop that was going to cost me like 450 dollars think that company was out of Florida, think driving may be the way to go spud. The Canadians might confiscate your syrup since it will be of higher quality  Just kidding people

Maple syrup is selling for $17.99 per quart as of last week in Alaska. The syrup is shipped from the states but a product of Canada. What I am wondering is can Vermont syrup be trucked across Canada? If not then does anyone know of a cheap way of shipping syrup. As of right now driving the syrup to Alaska would be the cheapest way of getting there. I also could ship it Flat rate at the post office using the big box that holds 5 quarts. Thank for any advise.

I've shipped syrup from Ontario to Vancouver on Greyhound bus. It's by far the cheapest way to send it long distances.

i have never been hastled bringing syrup produced in NH to Canada...never brought in huge quantities, but have brought in 10+gallons at a time in retail sizes. The BC border patrol agent asked what I was doing with it and I said "giving some of it away, selling some of it..." no problem.

just don't bring in 10 gallons of beer...you will pay a significant duty on that...

Spud, Syrup here in a rather busy farm stand/greenhouse operation in central NY is selling for $18.99 a qt. and another is selling at $19.99 a qt. You don't need to go to Alaska to get those prices. I'll bet you can do even better if you get into some more metropolitan stores, like in Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and many others.

There is however another thought. If you were looking to hunt or just visit, maybe do some gold prospecting in Alaska, if you deliver syrup there the trip can be a business expense.

I know your right Maple Flats. Although it is not me trying to market the syrup. I have a very close friend who lives in Alaska but owns homes in Hawaii and California also. What he wants to do is sell maple syrup in quarts and pints to stores and have me ship it to the stores as the orders come in. He also will be trying to find market in Washington State where he has some family members living. My job is to bottle the syrup and ship it out. He pays for the shipping and the bottles. The only thing i am doing is buying a canner and telling the kids to not make any plans (haha). We still have some things to work out but several store owners ( big and small) are excited to start offering 100% Pure Vermont maple syrup. Time will tell. If anyone has advise or helpful thoughts on this please feel free to let me know. Thanks.

I just got back from a trip to Oregon and California and was surprised that syrup was not much more expensive than around here. The syrup was mostly organic, around $19 a quart. Crown Maple was the only expensive one. One interesting thing was a quart of sap went for $2.99 packaged in something like a paper milk carton and was on the shelf, not in a cooler.

why don't you go up to the border in Richford and ask them? When we used to bring our membranes across the border to be cleaned, we would stop at the US side and let them know what we had, and they would make out some paperwork for us so we could get back with them. (for Spud's question on transporting syrup through Canada)
