Got a new full bank 7" Wes Fab this year. Worked great all season until near the end. When I would turn it on, the motor would just hum and eventually trip the breaker. I would manually turn the pulley(very hard to get it to turn) and then it would work. Could the pump be clogged or do you think something is wrong with it? Haven't talked to my dealer yet, going to sell bulk to him this week and will talk then. Any thoughts?

Try running some clesn hot water throught it. It sounds plugged with cold sap or hard sap.

Let me restate that, Try running clean hot water through it. It sounds like it is froze up with cold syrup or hard syrup [sugar].

Seems like there was a post on here maybe a week ago about a motor wire needing tightened or something on a filter press because it was flipping the breaker.

If you are not sure losen the bolts up and take the belt off. Then try the motor. If it still doesnt turn then it is the motor if it does then the problem is the pump

The problem is the pump. I took the belt off and the motor spun fine. I'm hoping it is a clog (maybe hardened sugar) in it. Right now I can't even spin it by hand so I don't know how to flush it with hot water.

You will need to take it apart and remove the dried up syrup and filter aide. 6 or seven screws on one side

I always flush mine with hot water when done to eliminate problems.

when i got my filter press the gear pump would turn but it was difficult, poured a cup of hot water into it and it freed up easily then i ran 2 gals of scorching hot water thru it been fine since i rinse mine lightly after each disassembly it helps avoid any issues when getting ready to use it again

We had a plastic shaving from drilling holes in 5 gallon buckets in ours last season. Stopped the pump dead in its tracks. We always flush ours with hot water after pressing.

Don't take it apart just yet. Try spraying the housing with hot water, or hold it under the hot water faucet for a minute or more. It takes some time for the heat to reach the internal gears. When it is quite hot to the touch, turn the pully by hand. If you get it turning, then run hot water thru it until it's clean.

I always run a 1 to 1.5 gallons of hot water from steamaway through press after running a batch of syrup through it. This cleans all of the syrup out of the filter aid and press and if you will put the discharge hose coming out of the press on a continual slope, mine completely drains itself. I dump this gallon or so back into the front pan or use it for thinning syrup before filtering next time. This way you have nice hard syrup free DE cakes and they don't fall down inside the press and cleanup is a breeze. If it is going to be later, cold water out of steamaway, permeate or spring water should do the same thing.
