Any H2O owners input on R/O is appreciated. We are interested in a machine that will give us 15% in one pass. Pros, cons, maintenance issues, reliability. We are going to Vermont this weekend and would like to have as much info as possible before we talk to dealers.
Thanks, Craig

E-mail them and they will most likely write you back ASAP. I don't have one I looked into them some to get 15% in one pass you need a 2 post machine, which in the Econox it would be like $18,600 for 1200gph or $35,000 for the base Supra. Econox is expandable to 4 posts and Supra to 12.

It's not recommended to take any machine from raw sap to 15% in one pass on a single post. Not sure how big you're looking.
I have a H20 600, and like it a lot. I've also had a Lapierre 250 and a Darveau 500. The Lapierre was good, simple to use and directions printed right on the front. The H2O is good, great fit/finish, and performs well. Some things I wish were different, but you can't have everything. Overall, you can't beat it for the price.

Have their 1000 gph unit with two towers...on 2% sap I go right to around 15% in one pass...love this machine...easy to operate and has never missed a beat for me...it is the same unit that amber is running just with the second tower...

I understand that a single post machine will not do it. We have an older two post machine now that we two pass with currently. I was just looking for input on H2O basically or any machine that will do this, pros and cons.
Thanks, Craig

Chris,
What is your flow on perm and concentrate at 15%. Any issues with fouling membranes?

If you are shopping for a new RO, add MES to your list of possible options. http://www.mapleexperts.com/

Not sure what the actual perm flow is when I am running...but my concentrate runs about 2 gallons per minute...and no I haven't had any problems with my membranes becoming clogged...actually I only washed my membranes with soap at the end of the season this year...I did however do a rinse cycle after every use and then flushed them with minimum of 1200 gals of permeate

Why stop at 15% when you can go to 40%? :)

I wondered about that as well, although I've heard the same thing stated about syrup made with an RO. I'm curious about the results when running it this high.

quick short story true.
a co worker went around on open house weekend here in VT. He went to a couple I know. he said one had the best flavor he has tasted( no it wasnt mine).
That guy processes around 13%, the next stop he made was at a guy that processes a lot higher and he said syrup had little to no taste. yea not scientific but this guy would be the perfect test person, little to no experiance around maple nothing vested to go one way or the other.

I have a new H2O 600 single post. I ran single pass with 2% to 10-11% most of the season with no issues. Not sure I would have wanted to go to 15% one time but with a smaller run maybe ok.With a second post I think you would be fine. Love our machine and great dealer/ company support.
Honestly, I have been too going to 8% no issue but going over the taste changes
