I burned my front SS pan. Got it all cleaned except for some charred stuff on the solder. It's an older pan that I am hoping to replace, but I need to boil today. My bulk tanks are now full.
Thanks for any help and advice!

Probably not a good idea, that scorch is a weak spot and will flavor the syrup.

I would use it if that's all I had. It'll still make syrup.

Thank you everyone! I got a call from a Vermont old timer. He had me making syrup in a half hour. Experience is invaluable! The first half gallon I made yesterday I will keep for personal use. Boiling again today!

The flavor is a bit off but I've been told it will come off as I boil. Having lunch now as I was taking care off today's sap run. Will stat boiling again this afternoon and I'll see how much scorched stuff has come off.

As long as there is scorched in the pan, your syrup will have a burnt flavor. Is best to scrub it off before continuing to boil.
