Aluminum pan???

One of my coworkers is thinking of using a batch pan made of aluminum next year for personal use. Is there any danger in using aluminum in an evaporator pan? Will it affect the taste any? :confused:

See post 4 (or 5, forgot). This is from the alzheimers association. You can find similar language on the fda website. Few, if any, medical or research professionals consider aluminum a cause of alzheimers.

There may be other arguments against aluminum evaporators, I wanted to chime in on this one.

There is no danger to the consumer. The danger is to the pan. Sap will eventually eat through aluminum. Whether the taste of the syrup is affected is debatable, but since the aluminum is being eaten by the sap, I would say probably.
