hi u all im getting a lot of black sediment in bottom of pans any help to what this is from??? ed newbie to trader am using grimm 30inch by 12ft 3 pan with steamway hood stainless pans 400gal clean stainless milk tank to feed unit and a 1200gal clean stainless milk tank to store sap 1000 ?? taps with tubing to palet tanks

Is this floating or black spots on the bottom of pan? If it is spots on the pan then I'd say you have niter building up and having syrup get trapped between it and the pan causing it to burn. Ussually will make popping noise. Just a thought

keith its not burnt bottom its very fine sits on the bottom of pan if u stir it sap will get cloudy then settle back on the bottom its kind of brownish im thinking the start of suger sand b4 its gets to end of syurp pan ?? just seams theres more this year than last year

I've always had that in my syrup pan. I figured it was sugar sand.
