I got great deal on used stainless Lapierre sap tank. Only issue is I'm not sure of volume it holds in gallons. I've tried LaPieere and they can't help as they only have records on newer tanks...this one probably 5 years old or so.

I know how to calculate volume in gallons for a rectangular shaped tank. Problem is this one has a rounded bottom, similar to ones made by Leader (& of course none of Leader's are same size as mine!)

The tank is 4' wide, 8' long. The height is 28" from the the top edge of tank to the center, or bottom, of the curved floor of the tank....

Any algebra fans out there with the correct, SIMPLIFIED, calculation??

Easy its 455 gal. The bottom round part just do pie x radius squared then divide in half and you have that volume then add the 4 inches by 48 by 96 to that and divide the whole deal by 231 . Sounds like a nice tank im jelous!

Use the round tank for the bottom half, and its just rectangle from there to the top

Thx Mark!

My guesstimates where right around 450 gals! Tank is in like new condition. Got it for around $600 as I recall. New I've seen them pushing $3k!

Happy Easter.

Thx MM!

Great calculator to see how much is in the tank as sap rises....
