My RO quit last night. The Tonkaflo pump is all done. So, I am looking for a replacement pump. The outlet end of the pump blew off. The threads on the end cap that threads into the pump appear to have corroded over the years and are gone. All 32 stages came out of the end of the pump and flew everywhere. The end that blew out is some kind of cast. This is a 1981 Osmonics RO. The pump is rated 12 gal/min @ 400psi.

If you have a 300 gpm RO, why does it need a 12 gpm pump? You might b OK with an 8 or 10 gpm replacement and still get the pressure to push 5 gpm thru.

Pump repaired. Had the end welded on. Works just fine now. Yahoo!

If it is similar to my old Memtek the high pressure pump is also a recirculation pump. Mine was supposed to be pushing 14-16 gpm across the membranes. There is a flowmeter for this that always showed about 15.

It does have a recirculation loop plumbed into it. Also, there are 2 other vessels on the machine that I am not currently using. In total there are 4 vessels. I plan to use them when I get my tap count up and upgrade to a larger evaporator. I also have considered switching to one 8" vessel at that point.
