When are people planning on tapping. I am located in the very northwest of the state and I am considering starting this weekend but I normally jump the gun.

Let the weather forecast be your guide.

if your weather is anything like mine in Ma. you have a while to go before the trees even start to thaw.... weeks

I like to wait for the weatherman to forecast 3 or 4 days of temps above 40 Deg. That doesn't usually happen till Mar. here in VT. I would guess that happens a couple weeks earlier in CT. Warm days cold nights!

I was thinking next monday, I'm not too far from you sugarsmith. I'm keeping a close eye on the forcast. I know a guy in Litchfield who tapped this weekend (I think it was too early). Good Luck
I agree with oneoldsap. I'm waiting till we see a few warm days in a row so I don't split the frozen trees. Unfortunately, I don't think it will be this weekend.

I think that is when I will tap, as long as its not too cold to split the trees or snap the plastic fittings. With the weekends to tap and 800 to go, I am hoping this will allow me enough time
I am going to tap Monday night here in southern CT, as long as the forecast holds.

I'm thinking mid-week, maybe later, still pretty cold.

I am looking at tapping by next week temp look good but the real feel temps are still to low for tapping, highs are going to be near 40 but little sun. looks like it going to a short season, i ususally have my taps in by presidents day weekend, not this year though, we'll see what mother nature will bring.

I'll be tapping Tuesday and Wednesday in SW Connecticut (Stamford). Looks like the weather is going to be prime the next week or so.

Forecast does look good, but I agree with ebourassa that it still feels a bit cold and probably won't be flowing. It can't hurt to start though
