Have a smoky lake goby hybrid. New to this. I believe I hae some niter build up under my front syrup pan. How do I remove this without making the syrup have an off taste when I continue boiling after cleaning

I use pan acid to clean my pan. Take water and put pan cleaner in it and heat up.Once warm start cleaning.Rinse out good.

I use white vinegar. I heat it up to nearly boiling and let it sit for two days or more if possible. Time soaking saves a lot of elbow grease.

On my 2x8 I use about 3 gallons of vinegar. I think it makes sense to keep it shallow and concentrated at first in the syrup pan before diluting it with water deep enough to cover what needs to be soaked.

Ok so each one of these processes invokes removing all the syrup and sap off the unit ???

Yes.. you can't clean with product in the pans. Like trying to wash a plate while you are eating from it.

When you remove the sap/syrup, keep the front and back in seperate containers. And filter them before returning them to your pan .

Yep, drain, clean refill, continue. The acid methods described in this thread should be followed by neutralizing with baking soda. So full e with acid solution, wash, drain, rinse, fill with water and soda, drain, rinse, fill with sap.

Haha. I worded my question badly. What's the best method to get sap out of the drop flues since there's no drain on the hobby hybrids?

Siphon tube. Search for siphon in my past posts. I explained it previously.
