Re-using bags

Are the silver 3 gallon bags reusable? how would someone clean them , because it is impossible to get all the liquid out and hang them to dry. A buddy of mine stated that he cuts the corner off the top, that way it is easier to pour out sap . Then he just uses a clothes pin to keep bugs out while collecting. Is any one doing anything different. With that corner cut off it can be completely dried after cleaning...... ALSO, how many years can the bags be used ?

The reason I use bags is so I don't have to clean buckets. The bags cost me 20 cents a piece and we throw them in the recycle bin.

Same here, I wouldn't waste my time cleaning bags.

Not only is cleaning them a waste of time...I don't see how you would ever get then clean and keep them mold free until next year

Certainly if you could clean, rinse and dry properly, you should be able to re-use until they got holes in them.
I think what everyone is saying is that it may more work than it's worth, but your mileage may vary. I've never seen bags at 20 cents ea though.

I get them at the Maple Hollow open house which is this weekend. I usually pay 50 bucks for a case of 250.

Has anyone thought about using foley urine bags. More durable, have a built-in drain tube and have an integral in-flow tube to attach to the spile.

Need to mention though, I wouldn't recommend obtaining these from any after-market recycling sources.:lol:
