I purchased a budget Gast 1023 1/2 HP 10 cfm dry rotary vane vacuum pump last fall and got it up and running earlier this year, and was disappointed with my vacuum level. It was advertised at 25 inches, but I only got 23. I was initially a bit angered. It occurred to me at some point that my 2000 ft above sea level was the culprit, as I know that baro pressure drops at about 1 inch per thousand ft at lower levels. Sure enough, that was the case.
I guess I will have to be happy with what I got. Plenty of volume, and I get 23 in throughout my system.
