Snow cover way down. Boiled down 20-30 gallons of sap (total of 20 taps on 17 trees) on Sunday. All bucket operation I run. Lots of frozen water which helps concentrate the sugar.

Have about 2-3 gallons of highly concentrated sap to boil down in the kitchen tonight. The syrup smells /tastes terrific! Boy I love this!

Already planning for how to grow production next year. Are any small scale hobby people using vaccum pumps?

I'm testing a Shurflo pump on a small line this year, 10 taps of red maple. Only had 4 days of running so far but the next 2 weeks will be the big test!

I have 13 large sugars on a shurflow and we are averaging around 2 gallons per tap per day. We have about 100 taps but this little area was an experiment that worked out great
